Oamaru is to get new Christmas decorations in time for the next festive season.
The existing street decorations, also used in other Waitaki district towns, are getting tatty and need to be replaced.
However, the Waitaki District Council is not sure what form the new decorations will take.
That is being investigatedThe decision on replacements needs to be made soon as it can take months to have them made and shipped from overseas.
Assets committee chairman Cr Alistair Mavor this week said the existing decorations were "decidedly worn" and new ones were needed.
