Rescue workers had to work to free an Oamaru woman who became trapped yesterday when her car overturned after clipping the towbar of another car.

The crash happened about 2.55pm as a driver was backing their Holden Commodore out of a driveway on Wansbeck St, just east of Greta St, in Oamaru.

The woman, driving a silver Daihatsu Sirion, clipped the Commodore's tow bar, breaking it.

Her car flipped upside-down, leaving her trapped inside.

Oamaru police said the woman, who was not seriously injured, was taken to Oamaru Hospital for treatment.
