Police investigate reports of Glenavy shooting

Police from Timaru and Oamaru are investigating reports of shots being fired in  Glenavy earlier this week.

The incident took place in the small Canterbury town between 9.30pm and 10pm on Tuesday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Quested said today a scene examination of the layby and surrounds at the north end of the Waitaki bridge in Glenavy has been completed.

Items of interest found during the examination would be examined as part of the investigation.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Glenavy around the time on Tuesday night, particularly if you have a dash camera or saw anything unusual or suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 105 and quote file number 190815/2699.
