Scatterlights (2011), by Neal Palmer, appears in the exhibition the Auckland artist shares with John Parker in Milford Galleries Queenstown, later this month.
Two Auckland artists will introduce their latest work in person at the launch of a double-billed exhibition at Milford Galleries Queenstown on Friday, October 21.

John Parker presents more than 30 ceramic pieces with one unifying colour in his showcase called "Red". The 64-year-old's fascination with the colour came in part from a residency in China in 2007 and from designing the set of Red, a play by American writer John Logan about artist Mark Rothko.

Senior art consultant Jac Byron said Parker "combines new daring colour with his characteristic sculptured forms and once again reveals his formidable skill as a master designer and ceramic artist.

Neal Palmer will present nine finely brush-stroked oils on canvas and on board in Luminance.

His paintings had a "lush clarity and consummate skill, giving an artist's view of a botanist's subject", Ms Byron said.

The 43-year-old London-born artist was a finalist in art competitions, such as the Margaret Stoddart prize and the Wallace Trust Awards. He gained a merit award in the Molly Morpeth Art Award in Whakatane in 2010 and had numerous and regular solo exhibitions since 1999.

All are welcome to meet the artists at the exhibition preview in the Church Lane gallery on October 21, at 5.30pm.

The exhibition runs until November 16.
