Queenstown police are puzzled over reports of a burning boat sinking in Lake Wakatipu overnight.
Two people in the suburb of Goldfield Heights reported seeing a craft across the lake on fire and sinking about 8.25pm yesterday.
Police, the harbour master, and coastguard searched the Frankton Arm but found nothing, said Sergeant Linda Stevens.
"We would like to hear from anyone else who may have witnessed this event or have any further information."
