Balls flew in the air in downtown Queenstown, while two top rock acts kept Coronet Peak buzzing on day eight of the Queenstown Winter Festival yesterday.

Hundreds flocked to Earnslaw Park to watch teams in fancy dress throw balls at each other for the Dodgeball championship. Tiney Gineys took the top spot, beating the Jager Bombers into second place.

Meanwhile on Coronet Peak, skiers and boarders were treated to a slope-side live concert featuring New Zealand bands Mercury Crowe and Mile High.

Girl power was out in force for the Ladies Fashion Challenge, in the Ice Box, on Thursday night. A dozen Wakatipu ladies took to the catwalk to showcase 12 weeks of fitness training and nutritional guidance in a complete image overhaul.

Together they had lost 100kg.

The notorious Suitcase Race and Dash for Cash will take place as part of Mountain Mayhem on Coronet Peak today from 11am.

Also on the menu is the New Zealand Cyclocross Championship, at Jardine Park, and the ice hockey clash between the Southern Stampede and Botany Swarm. Jazz Night at Skyline, concludes today's festivities.
