However, the trustees behind the Timsfield HomeFront project are a little jittery about the prospect of the property selling.
More than 100 community volunteers have mucked in to help build the three-bedroom house and landscaped property, with about 60 local tradesmen and suppliers donating materials and their time to realise the project.
Proceeds raised from the sale of the property will be put in a trust to fund activities and resources at the burgeoning Hawea Flat rural school.
School fundraising trust chairwoman Lindsey Schofield said it was realistic about the existing property market.
"We realise that this is not the best marketplace to be selling a house, but we are delighted with the interest we have had," she said.
The auction was expected to be well-attended, with many community volunteers predicted to turn up in support, Ms Schofield said.
The auction is at 1pm today and bidding will start at $250,000.
