Cut-throat behaviour leads to arrest

A 33-year-old Queenstown man arrived home intoxicated in the early hours of Wednesday after a night in town and allegedly threatened to cut his flatmate's throat.

Queenstown police were called after the man used threatening behaviour, about 2.30am, Sergeant Blair Duffy said.

The man was arrested and charged with threatening language as well possession of cannabis.

• A 29-year-old man who had recently been released from prison was issued a recall warrant by Queenstown police after allegedly breaching his probation orders on Tuesday.

The Queenstown man had allegedly breached orders through drinking and was returned to Invercargill prison.

• Queenstown police attended a domestic incident at a Kelvin Heights address on Tuesday night and issued a safety order to the pair involved.

Sergeant Blair Duffy said police were called out at 10pm.

No offences were disclosed.

The safety order was essentially a "behaviour bond" and if broken could result in arrest.

• A 27-year-old French national was arrested on Tuesday afternoon on a charge of perverting the course of justice.

He is under current charges and will appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday.

• A 31-year-old Australian man carrying out a stag-do dare was charged with wilful damage yesterday.

The dare allegedly involved the man putting a considerable dent in a newly-purchased car.

• A 21-year-old United States-born man allegedly took a frozen coke at McDonald's early on Thursday.

Sergeant Steve Watt said the man forgot to order a drink with his meal and helped himself when staff were absent.

He was charged with being unlawfully in the building.
