A three-year-old boy has been treated in hospital for dog bites after an incident in Lakes Hayes Estate, Queenstown, on Tuesday.
Senior Constable Chris Blackford said the boy was playing outside a property in Herries Lane about 5pm when a barking dog prompted him to ``run away, yelling''.
The boy then fell over and was bitten on his legs by two dogs.
The matter has been referred to the Queenstown Lakes District Council's dog control unit.
