Drunk man throws up in police car

A drunk man who vomited in a Queenstown police patrol car was made to walk the last kilometre to the station.

Senior Constable Chris Blackford said an ''extremely intoxicated'' Asian man was found by police sitting on the footpath on Frankton Rd at 4.30am today.

He could not speak English and did not have any identification.

While being driven to the station for detoxification, the man vomited, so was escorted back to the station on foot.

He was kept at the station until he was sober enough to be released.

Meanwhile, all licensed premises visited during a controlled purchase liquor operation in Queenstown on Thursday night were found to be operating within the law.

Snr Const Blackford said two underage women visited 15 licensed premises in the resort from 6pm.

''All were found to be operating correctly.''

The operations are used to monitor whether licensed premises are checking evidence-of-age documents and whether they are selling to minors.
