Photographers, charge your batteries, clean your lenses, pick your spot and start snapping to be in to win during this year's Queenstown Winter Festival.
This year, festival organisers are running a Shot of the Day competition, which begins today and will run for the duration of the festival.
Anyone with a camera is invited to shoot what best summarises their experience of the events. The overall winning image will be aired on national television, distributed internationally and used as a festival "hero" shot for the 2012 event.
The winning photographer will also receive a prize package, including a Quiksilver or Roxy snowboard jacket.
Chief festival photographer Jackie Gay will be co-ordinating the competition, and the best 10 shots each day will be posted on the Winter Festival website.
"I'm totally looking forward to seeing what people will capture of the 50 events and more than 45,000 people estimated to attend the festival over its 10-day duration," she said.
Those wanting to enter the competition may submit a maximum of five images per day by visiting the festival website, www.winterfestival.co.nz, clicking on the image gallery tab and following the instructions to register and upload.
A selection of the best photographs will be published in the Queenstown Times, the winning image to be published on July 4.
