'Good uptake'

The Wanaka Sports Facility Steering Group began the formidable task of collating the latest public feedback on the project for the district's decision-makers this week.

To confirm the much-debated mix of facilities at the $16.8 million sports complex - which will be built at the Three Parks/North Three Parks subdivision on the outskirts of Wanaka - the Queenstown Lakes District Council had requested updated information on the needs of potential users.

The steering group had its first chance to consolidate the large volume of fresh feedback at a workshop on Wednesday, after the most recent consultation phase closed the previous Friday.

''We had a good uptake from stakeholders and also ... over 200 personal responses through the [council] website.

''There was a late flurry last week,'' steering group chairman Duncan Good said.

The group would prepare a recommendation for the council to consider at its next meeting later this month.
