High school student arrested for drink driving

A Queenstown high school student has been arrested for drink driving - and fined for breaching his licence conditions by carrying a passenger.

He was allegedly driving with a breath-alcohol level of 218mcg - there is a zero breath alcohol limit for drivers under the age of 20.

The student is expected to appear in court next week.

• A 24-year-old Englishman was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly shoplifting from a Queenstown supermarket.

Sergeant Keith Newell, of Queenstown, said the man bought some groceries at Fresh Choice, on Gorge Rd, but concealed other items worth about $15.

The man is scheduled to appear in court next week.

• Police issued a 62-year-old Queenstown man with an infringement notice for drink-driving on Wednesday night.

Sgt Newell, of Queenstown, said the man was stopped on Edgar St at 10.30pm and had a breath-alcohol level of 360mcg.
