Tartan troubadours the Red Hot Chilli Pipers are taking the high road to Queenstown to play their unique fusion of traditional pipes and modern rock anthems on Sunday, October 2.

Formed in 2002, Scotland's Live Act of the Year award winners in 2007 and 2010 and winners of the British television talent show When Will I Be Famous in 2007 launch their debut tour of seven New Zealand centres, from late September.

The Celtic collective consists of pipers Stuart Cassells, Kevin MacDonald, Kyle Warren and Gordon "Dougie" McCance, with guitarist Nick "The Firestarter" Hawryliw, keyboard player Gary O'Hagan, bouzouki and bass guitarist Stevie Lawrence, percussionists Steven Graham and Malcolm McEwan, plus drummer Steven "Stav" Black.

The Jock `n' rollers will blast their high energy rock renditions of Clocks by Coldplay, We Will Rock You by Queen, a rock medley of Deep Purple's Smoke On the Water, Thunderstruck by AC/DC, Scotland's unofficial national anthem Flower of Scotland and more popular hits.

Their debut album, Bagrock to the Masses, went platinum in Scotland and was the highest selling album from any act on a Scottish label that year.

Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Sunday, October 2, Revolver, Queenstown.

Earlybird tickets $25 before September 24, $30 in advance, or $35 on the door. Tickets available from Quest and Ticketmaster.
