An injured climber was air-lifted from French Ridge Hut on Mt Aspiring yesterday morning.
Wanaka police response manager Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell said police were advised about 8.30am by the Department of Conservation that a 31-year-old male was at the hut with an injured leg.
A rescue helicopter from Queenstown-based company Heliworks flew a paramedic and one LandSAR Wanaka team member to the hut where the man was waiting in a stable condition with a group of people.
He was brought back to Wanaka's medical centre about 11am for treatment.
Snr Sgt Grindell did not know where the man was from but understood he had sustained an injury to his knee.
