Invercargill chef Graham Hawkes will barbecue the top 20 lamb legs for the panel of judges.
The Evers-Swindell sisters will judge the competition on Friday, March 13, while Loe and Minister of Agriculture David Carter will do the honours on Saturday - the final day of the Upper Clutha A and P Show.
Loe, a former Waikato and Canterbury provincial representative, writes a column for the Herald on Sunday, has his own sports radio show, and also runs a sheep stud farm, near Auckland.
The front row hard-man holds the record for the most first class tries scored by a prop, and was the most-capped All Black prop at the time he retired from test rugby in 1997.
Loe said he was looking forward to "finding the best of the best".
"I love my Kiwi lamb and I'm sure it's going to be a tough challenge to choose a winner."
The New Zealand Lamb "Glammies" take place at the Upper Clutha A&P Show, in Wanaka on March 13 and 14.
