Kingston residents applauded when the Otago township's new logo was unveiled during the community association's annual meeting on Saturday.
In the previous six months, dozens of anonymous submissions of design and slogan ideas from the community had been in the association's new and improved news letter.
The initiative aimed to give Kingston an identity of its own, alongside the Kingston Flyer.
A sub-committee selected three finalists which would best represent Kingston's identity and would suit letterheads, the village's revamped website in progress and highway signs.
Returning Kingston Community Association chairwoman Annette Dalziel yesterday said residents voted for their favourite.
The winner "represented this beautiful part of New Zealand, with its lake, mountains and serenity", Mrs Dalziel said.
At the meeting, Jeremy Wilken became the new association secretary, Norman Anderson the new treasurer, and Loma Elliott, Athol Elliott, Kim Haynes and John Paul Cunliffe committee members.
