Park plan proposed changes to be notified

The public will get a say on whether small sections of Wanaka's Pembroke Park should be converted into angle parking, after the Queenstown Lakes District Council approved notification of proposed amendments to the park's management plan this week.

The decision ratified a recommendation from the Wanaka Community Board meeting on January 22 that the council notify the public of its intention to amend the Pembroke Park reserve management plan and call for submissions.

The amendments would allow helicopter landings in the park, additional parking along its Brownston St verge and removal of a provision for developing a further 60 car parks and six bus parks at the McDougall St end of the park.

Cr Leigh Overton and board members Jude Battson and Dick Kane were appointed to hear public submissions.

Consultation on the proposal closes on May 10.
