A bylaw amendment to impose parking restrictions at the Frankton corner shops was approved by the Queenstown Lakes District Council on Tuesday.
There is limited off-street parking at the shops and retailers have called for time-restricted parking in the shopping centre.
Consultation has taken place, issues have been investigated and complaints have increased significantly during September.
Council staff prepared a report on the issues as a matter of urgency for the meeting, suggesting either the council do nothing or approve a suite of changes.
The council agreed to the changes, which include. -
> Within the first internal parking areas, all parks are P60, 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday.
> Within the second internal parking area, spaces immediately next to the footpath and shops become P60.
> Parking remains unrestricted on the southern side of Gray St, on McBride St and on the northwestern edge of the second internal car park.
