Frankton Fire Service has benefited from a Bid for Your Bike fundraiser at Alpine Health and Fitness.

The fitness centre officially opened its new RPM spin-bike studio yesterday with an hour-long class for the 28 successful bidders.

Health and Fitness manager Richie Heap said the fire service was very pleased with the $1200 raised towards a new chase vehicle.

"They [the fire service] thought it was great; it was awesome we were able to put on a fundraiser for the local guys."

Mr Heap said the first class on the mezzanine floor, which was equipped with soundproof walls, a disco ball and LED lighting, was a huge success.

Queenstown Lakes Mayor Vanessa van Uden was present at the 6.30am class as well as the official opening ceremony later in the day.

"We, as a community, are very spoilt," she said.

"It's a great facility and I can vouch for that already."
