TODAY

7pm: Queenstown's own Nigel Hirst on saxophone and Mark Wilson on keyboards play mostly contemporary jazz melodies in the Friday Jazz Club in Les Alpes. Free.

9pm: Wellington indie rock quintet Family Cactus promote their second album Spirit Lights and 2009 debut Come Howling around the country, including Revolver. With support from Auckland singer-songwriter Claire Duncan, also known as Dear Time's Waste. Tickets $10.

10pm: American hip-hop turntablist and producer DJ Revolution spins in Subculture. Earlybird tickets $10 from dashtickets.co.nz.

10pm: Queenstown-based South American quartet Inside Out jam in Dux de Lux. Free.

TOMORROW

10pm: A self-proclaimed new era of digital yet traditional DJing is showcased in Half Wild in Revolver. Christchurch founder Sebastian Wild and guests deliver techno, progressive, breaks and trance. Free.

11pm: Mizz-Que, the Dentist, Four Twenty, D-Jade, Sworn, Andy Horse and Downtown Brown play dubstep, drum 'n' bass, glitch and hip-hop for the Basement Sessions in Subculture. Free entry before midnight, $5 afterwards.

SUNDAY

3pm: Reavers Rail Jam Invitational is hosted by Revolver with Dirty ol' Knights and DJ Endo on the decks. With barbecue from 4pm and footage from the Diaries Down Under film crew at 6pm. Gold coin donation on entry towards St John Wakatipu.

TUESDAY

8.30pm: Mel Brooks writes and directs and Gene Wilder stars in Young Frankenstein (1974), an affectionate spoof of Frankenstein movies, screened to Queenstown Film Society members in Dorothy Brown's Cinema, Arrowtown.

WEDNESDAY

9pm: Taxi Trio, Queenstowners Jamie Reylton, Greg Alpine and Matt Wilson, entertain in Barmuda. Free.

10pm: British drum 'n' bass pioneer Goldie promotes Fabric Live Mix in Revolver, his only South Island show. With regular lyricist MC LowQui, of Wellington, and Auckland electronica artist the Mechanism. Tickets cost $37, including booking fee from Quest.

THURSDAY

10pm: Arizona metalcore band the Word Alive rocks Revolver with support from pop punk quartet Alison Lake and hardcore quintet This Season's End, both from Christchurch. Free.
