The Upper Clutha Tracks Trust, Queenstown Lakes District Council and the Otago Regional Council are responsible for different trail projects.
Queenstown Lakes community services manager Paul Wilson said tenders were being sought to complete the final two sections of the Hawea River track.
The trail would provide a walking and biking link between the towns of Lake Hawea and Albert Town. The project was a "signature" trail of the Upper Clutha Tracks Trust and was an initiative first proposed by founding chairman John Pawson.
Mr Pawson was killed in a climbing accident on Mt Aspiring in November and steps were being taken to name the track in his memory.
New UCCT chairman Tim Dennis told Radio Wanaka the trust was looking to make progress on many new trails around the district and take forward Mr Pawson's founding vision.
The trust was seeking feedback from the community to help identify future possible trails and worthy projects, he said.
Mr Wilson said the Hawea River track tenders were for the construction of a swing-bridge to span the river and continue the track to Albert Town, from a completed 5km section, leading from the Camp Hill Rd bridge.
A section extending North to Lake Hawea was also up for tender.
The project was supposed to have been completed this summer, but engineering setbacks had pushed out the track's completion date and forced the council to put out for a new tender.
A section of trail alongside Lake Wanaka has progressed recently, with a blasting programme and explosives used to clear a way between Damper bay and Glendhu bay, Mr Wilson said.
ORC Corporate Services director Wayne Scott said a tender to construct a track connecting the Millennium walkway to Damper Bay was scheduled to go out in February.
ORC staff would be on-site at the planned Wanaka lakeside track route, next week.
A planning and surveying team would walk the designated route to complete trail plans ahead of the tender process, Mr Scott said.
