A health expo organised by Age Concern attracted about 50 on Friday.

Age Concern Queenstown branch co-ordinator Helen Stevens said key speakers included the fire and police service, and those attending had left the event "armed with lots of information via brochures".

Organisations which set up stalls included the Alzheimer's society, Abbeyfield, Wakatipu Senior Citizens Association and the Ministry of Social Development.

"The focus was about positive ageing and information about services that are here in the community."

It was the first time Age Concern had hosted such an event in the Wakatipu, and Ms Stevens said they would "certainly look at doing it again".
