Members of the newly formed Cardrona Curling Club plan to replace their old homemade concrete curling stones with granite stones imported from China.
The 16 new stones arrived recently and will be in action on an ice rink next to the Waiorau Station homestead in the Cardrona Valley next winter.
The club has about 20 members but hopes to grow. It will also fundraise to improve facilities and might build its own curling rink.
