Doubling the impact for donations

Talk about doubling down.

Next Thursday, the Wakatipu High School Foundation is holding its inaugural ‘Giving Day’, a 12-hour fundraising campaign — from 8am until 8pm — to support local students and strengthen the region.

Executive officer Celeste Collie says all donations made during the day will be matched by a generous supporter, meaning the impact of every contribution will be doubled.

The funds raised will support teachers, literacy and numeracy, wellbeing, outdoor ed and the Awhina Support Fund, ensuring every student has the chance to thrive.

The foundation is encouraging businesses, locals, families and alumni to take part, either by donating, via giving.whsf.nz, or helping spread the word.

"A strong school creates a strong community," Collie says.

"When we support our young people, we’re supporting the future of Queenstown — its workforce, its wellbeing, and its resilience."
