Vocalist Alex Fraser, lead guitarist Connor Williams, guitarist Matt Milliken, bass player Josh Baldey and drummer Matiu Gourlay, also won the best original song prize of professional recording time for their composition I'm Feeling It.
The quintet was also named the tightest-best band and Alex was hailed as best vocalist.
"It feels awesome, so good; all the practise has paid off," Alex said.
Josh said the band was looking forward to the first session in the recording studio.
Oswald The Bearded Squirrel, Talkback Amp, the Intergalactic Disco Movement and solo artist Hertzog Burger, winners of the two earlier heats, performed three songs each before a crowd of more than 80 at X-it Youth Centre.
Revolver owner John Stapleton, one of the judges, said the next step would be to pair the Intergalactic Disco Movement with a suitable established act and there were many bands set for the stage at the Shotover St venue before Christmas.
Mr Stapleton urged the young musicians to go beyond the music by interacting with the audience and trying theatrics and costumes.
"It's all about entertainment and performance. If there's energy coming off the stage in all forms, it's intoxicating."
Singer-songwriter-producer-musician Andrea Cruickshank and Studio 183 owner Dave Allison judged the best original song award.
They said they will work with the band in the studio as soon as possible.
