New Zealand's most expensive hotel suite will open in Queenstown next month.

Eichardt's Private Hotel's new suite, The Penthouse, will receive its first guests on December 20.

For $10,000 a night, they get the run of a 240sq m suite with a 100sq m balcony - complete with spa - with views across Queenstown Bay.

They also get a sauna, 24/7 butler service, a private chef and a Land Rover with driver at their disposal.

The Penthouse and two new lakefront suites, which are available for $1950 a night, are part of a $6 million Skyline Enterprises development next door to the historic Eichardt's building.

The Penthouse suite is about three times pricier than other luxury accommodation offerings in New Zealand: a suite at Taupo's Huka Lodge can cost $3865 a night, and Blanket Bay, near Glenorchy, costs almost $3400 per couple a night during the peak season.

Eichardt's is owned by Imperium Capital Group's Andrew Cox, who said The Penthouse catered for a ``new class of ultra-high net worth guests''.

$10,000 a night in Queenstown (or anywhere else for that matter)?

What utter, avaricious B/S!! I could understand perhaps $500--$1000.
The greed of some people knows no bounds!
