A Queenstown bakery offering a taste of France has brought home a haul of awards following the recent Bakery of the Year competition.

The Baking Industry Association of NZ held its competition in Auckland recently.

Remarkables Park bakery Ma Boulangerie took home a swag of prizes, leaving owner David Lamercerie delighted.

Among its accolades were silver in the mini yule logs category, bronze for its trifle verrines, silver for its choux pastry eclairs, and second runner up in the cake category.

Mr Lamercerie said the team had been hopeful.

``We are very proud of the awards we won as a lot of hard work went into each and every product we sent away, so it was good to get recognition for our hard work.

``We weren't sure what to expect, as you never know what the other competitors will bring to the table and the standard of this year's competition was very high.''

Mr Lamercerie opened the bakery with wife Marion at the end of 2016, after moving from France.

At the time, they told Mountain Scene they wanted to set up a traditional patisserie in an English-speaking country.

Heaven's Bakery, Napier, was judged New Zealand's Best Bakery.
