Car rolls on Crown Range

A person suffered minor injuries after a car rolled on the Crown Range road this afternoon.

The crash, which was reported to police at 2.40pm, happened on the section of road between the Crown Range summit and Cardrona village.

A police media spokeswoman said the car ended up on its side, blocking the northbound lane.

An officer at the scene told an Otago Daily Times staff member that police believed the vehicle was travelling too fast when it hit grit laid in anticipation of ice and spun out.

One person suffered minor injuries in the crash, he said.

Firefighters from Wanaka and Arrowtown were sent to the scene, but were turned around before they arrived, a Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said.
