Audrey Stephen listened carefully to the colour specifications her 7-year-old granddaughter gave her and has nearly finished a brightly coloured quilt she will personally deliver.
Other quilts being made have their own stories and some are to be given to cancer patients. The Queenstown Patchworkers and Quilters group has around 30 members.
It is holding an open day on Saturday, June 29, from 10am to 3pm, which could lead to an evening group or a regular weekend group being formed.
The club meets every Thursday from 10am. Last week, members were busy constructing quilts in a room at the Queenstown Arts Centre.
President Kathleen Owens encouraged anyone with an existing or budding interest in patchworking to attend the centre's open day.
