Queenstown cop new police union president

Police union delegates elected Senior Sergeant Steve Watt, of Queenstown, as their new president at the Police Association’s 90th annual conference in Wellington yesterday.

He replaces Chris Cahill, who held the position for nine years and did not seek re-election.

Snr Sgt Watt has been Police Association vice-president since 2022.

He has been with police for 25 years and is team leader of road policing for Otago Lakes Central.

Snr Sgt Watt said he was passionate about protecting association members and achieving the best outcomes for them. — Allied Media
