Queenstown's council put out health warning signage around Queenstown Bay last Sunday amidfears wastewater might have entered the lake.

"The signs were put up as a precaution after a blockage between a grease trap and the council wastewater main caused a minor overflow that entered a nearby stormwater mudtank," infrastructure operations manager Simon Manson says.

The signage was removed on Tuesday after council had received final sampling results and had confidence there was no contamination.
