A central Queenstown street was plunged into darkness last night after an apparent power cut.
A reporter at the scene said power was out in Searle Lane, home to several popular bars including the Below Zero Ice Bar.
Businesses in the street were unable to process payments and patrons were struggling to navigate the darkened bars, she said.
An Aurora Energy spokesman said: "Power was restored to all affected customers in the Queenstown CBD shortly before midnight. A cable fault caused the power to go off to about 130 customers just before 9:00pm last night and response crews attended. Aurora Energy apologises to affected customers for the disruption."
