It is understood former All Black captain Richie McCaw will marry Black Sticks hockey player Gemma Flynn this Saturday at Wanaka wedding venue the Olive Grove.
The couple have been seen together and separately around Wanaka during the past week, fuelling speculation the event is imminent.
Rumours McCaw celebrated his stag night at the Luggate Hotel bar and restaurant 10 days ago have since been quashed by the pub owner, who said he just had a few drinks with friends.
However, she confirmed the Luggate Hotel was one of Richie's favourite haunts and he and Gemma had had dinner there on Sunday night.
Several former All Black team-mates and coach Steve Hansen have also been spotted in Wanaka.
The owners of the Olive Grove wedding venue on Mt Aspiring Rd could not be contacted yesterday. Other wedding event specialists in Wanaka have said they either know nothing or declined to comment.
The New Zealand Herald today reported the couple had left the region, with Flynn bidding farewell to Otago on Instagram and McCaw posting a photo of himself back on familiar ground in Christchurch this morning.
