A $100million lakeside development planned near Queenstown will start with a swanky subdivision with a dozen $2million-plus sections.

Murphy’s Development Ltd wants to build a 12-lot subdivision near the Jack’s Point golf resort.

It is the first stage of a planned 45ha development at Homestead Bay, which could include a marina and boat launching area, another 130 sections, an apartment precinct, cafes,  commercial premises and pedestrian access to the lake.

The whole development is on almost 1km of lake frontage  that was previously part of Remarkables Station.

Murphy’s Development director Andrew Guest, of Auckland, said: "While other subdivisions tend to be landlocked with the lake being ‘around the corner’, Homestead Bay offers a stunning vista with the lake in front  ...  and the Remarkables behind in an already terraced environment.

"That is what makes it such a stunning and unique piece of land."

Queenstown planners Clark Fortune McDonald and  Dunedin architects Mason & Wales are working on the site plan, he says.

The proposed development is  within the Jacks Point Special Zone.

The millionaires’ row subdivision is at an advanced stage and options have been granted on some of the  lots.

They range in size from 1.06ha to 2.49ha. Titles are expected later this year or early 2018.

The other 130 sections are likely to average 800sqm and be less expensive.

Murphy’s Development Ltd is a subsidiary of landowner Homestead Bay Trustees Ltd,  linked to property investment firm Viranda Group. Auckland barrister Mr Guest is a director of all three companies.
