Some southern highways may be affected by snow as some active weather makes its way up the country.
MetService has road snow warnings in place for several roads in the South, as well as couple in Canterbury.
The Milford Road (State Highway 94) was closed overnight owing to avalanche risk but has now reopened. All other southern highways are open.
MetService said snow was forecast from 8pm yesterday until about 10am today.
Snow showers were also forecast for the Crown Range and Lindis Pass (SH8) above 800m and the Arthurs (SH73) and Lewis Passes (SH7).

Milford Road (SH94)

Forecast: Snow showers are expected to affect the road above 700 metres this morning, where 1 cm may settle at times.
Lindis Pass (SH8)
Snow is not expected to affect the road.
Lewis Pass (SH7)
Valid: 2 hours from 10am to midday today
Forecast: Snow may briefly affect the road about the summit this morning, where 1 cm or less of snow may settle at times.
Arthurs Pass (SH73)
Valid: 2 hours from 10am to midday today
