A main street in central Timaru was evacuated this afternoon after police received reports of a suspicious vehicle.
A police spokesman said officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle on Sefton St Easy about 12pm today.
Premises on Sefton St East between Theodosia St and Port Loop Rd were evacuated and cordons were put in place as a precaution, which were later stood down.
The matter was resolved without incident.
Police would be speaking to a person of interest and inquiries were ongoing.
