All the fun of the fair, despite weather

Bad weather failed to dampen the spirits of the crowd that invaded Lawrence for the town's 20th annual Country Fair Day on Saturday.

Organisers were still smiling despite the rain, wind and cold temperatures.

Stalls lined both sides of Ross Pl, offering everything from sweets and baking to glassware and plants.

Among the stalls was one from the working party charged with trying to establish a cycle and walkway trail between Lawrence and Roxburgh.

Working party chairman Rod Peirce said there was growing interest in its plans.

The group was selling $10 packages, enabling the public to become "Friends of the Trail" while going in the draw for a mountain bike at the same time.

Stallholders said foot traffic was lighter than in recent years but that was down to the inclement weather.

A parade at 1pm completed the fair's festivities.
