Well, one out of two is not bad.
The 35-year-old Balclutha freezing worker will tie the knot with Steven Shearer, her partner of nearly eight years, on the most romantic day of the year - Valentine's Day - and the ceremony will not cost the couple a cent.
The only catch will be their special day on February 14 will be staged in front of anyone who wishes to watch the nuptials which will take place at the end of the third annual Big River Festival on the banks of the Clutha River.
Project Clutha, organisers of the annual festival, wanted to celebrate the clash of Valentine's Day and their festival in a romantic way so the call went out for any couples keen to exchange vows on the day in front of the crowd who will gather at the riverbank.
Ms Brown said a wedding was a very expensive exercise but the chance to have a "free" wedding was too good to pass up.
After hearing about the wedding offer, Ms Brown wasted no time in asking Mr Shearer if he was keen.
She rang him at the Silver Fern Farms Finegand plant where he was working a night-shift and, over the telephone, asked him to marry her and to keep Valentine's Day free.
It was a no-brainer, Mr Shearer said yesterday. The chance to have a cheap wedding with family and friends was too good to pass up.
His partner agrees.
"I like the idea of marriage but the timing has never been right and it's just too expensive. But when you get the chance to do it for next to nothing, then why not?"
The couple will be married by Clutha Mayor Juno Hayes about 4pm, after the festival.
They will have the use of the marquee already erected for the event.
Project Clutha is keen for other couples to also take advantage of the rare offer.
It is understood another South Otago couple have agreed to having their big day at the same time.
Any other couples keen to tie the knot at the festival can find more details at www.projectclutha.co.nz.
