She was nominated for her extensive community work, including local civic improvements with Waihola Looking Forward and her long-standing work in nursing.
Mrs Earl was "shocked and delighted" to receive the leg of Silver Fern Farms lamb, which she would share with husband Greg for a Sunday roast.
"I love lamb, and this is a total surprise, so thanks to everyone including Silver Fern Farms for the prize."
She said she loved working with people, community work came naturally to her.
"It’s great fun working together and carrying everyone along to improve things for all."
