Police say a 26-year-old Milton man was found slumped over the steering wheel of his car and drooling into his lap, with a cellphone in one hand and a bottle of rum and coke in ther other.
Senior Constable Jim Jordan, of Milton, said the man left the Waihola Tavern in an intoxicated state on Saturday and was found by police 30 minutes later, passed out in his car.
He was nearly three times the legal limit, blowing 1140mg.
He will appear in the Balclutha District Court on November 15.
