Officials are once again hopeful a long-standing eyesore on Lawrence’s main street may be refurbished.
During the Lawrence-Tuapeka Community Board meeting on Wednesday, board members received an email from the Invercargill owner of a boarded-up shop, located centrally in Ross Pl.
The email says builders will soon be on site, and a refurbishment completed by July. No details of the building’s future use were provided.
The board received a similar email in July 2020, which was not actioned.
Ward councillor Mel Foster said locals would be delighted by the latest news, which would resolve concerns first raised in 2018.
