Peter and his wife Maryrose were nominated late last year.
"Peter retired many years ago but never stopped working or helping the community," their nominator said.
"He helped organise cancer fundraising for years, he’s in Rotary, Milton’s Men’s shed and helps supply firewood for people that live alone.
From digging friends’s vege gardens to fixing garden tools and handyman jobs, he’s a great community man."
Accepting the premium fresh local lamb leg roast, Mr Mallon thought about why he went about helping others solve practical problems.
"You have to find something to keep you occupied," he said, "I’m just happy to have what it takes to help."
