Spate of burglaries

Police are investigating several burglaries in the Clutha district in the past week.

Constable Tanya Grant, of Balclutha, said a lock was cut at a garage in Essex St, Balclutha, and a 20-litre container of fuel taken.

A laptop and two chainsaws were taken from a property in Ossian St, Milton.

Fencing equipment was taken from an address at Findlayson Rd, near Taieri Mouth, and a radar detector was taken from a vehicle at Waihola.

Const Grant also said police would like information regarding a male acting suspiciously at The Warehouse car park in Balclutha on Sunday afternoon. The man, aged between 30 and 40, appeared to be searching for leftover cigarette butts.

He was believed to be of Polynesian descent and was wearing a black beanie, green hoodie and dark track pants.
