Police recovered two allegedly stolen vehicles on Wednesday and said one of the vehicles was used in an attempted burglary.
Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Balclutha, said police were called to the Kaitangata Food Market shortly before 2am on Wednesday after the alarm sounded when a front-door window had been smashed.
The offenders fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.
Sgt Dinnissen said the offenders drove towards Balclutha in a dark red/maroon Holden Commodore, which had been reported stolen on Tuesday. The vehicle crashed at the corner of Ipswich St and Hasborough Place and was abandoned.
One alleged offender was wearing a pale hoodie. Police wanted to hear from anyone who might have seen them.
A silver Daihatsu taken from Lewin St on Saturday night or Sunday morning was found abandoned in Balclutha on Wednesday night.
