The TAB is looking for new premises in Balclutha after its only outlet, in the RSA Building in Clyde St, closed this week.
New Zealand Racing Board head of communications Jessica Venning-Bryan yesterday confirmed the TAB had shut on Wednesday.
She said the contractor had not fulfilled "their contractural obligations".
She was not sure how many people were affected by the closure, but said customers could still place bets on the internet or by telephone. The TAB was looking for new premises "as quickly as possible", she said.
Ken Woods, the former TAB contractor, declined to comment.
