Three job vacancies soon at council

Two Clutha District Council frontline staff at Tapanui, with a combined service of 30 years, have resigned within days of each other.

Service centre officer Janet Davidson, who has worked for the council and its predecessor for 22 and a-half years, will leave on May 22, while library officer and cleaner Angela Diamond will finish on April 9.

Council chief executive Charles Hakkaart told the council Mrs Davidson had said some time ago she was considering retiring, and when Mrs Diamond tendered her resignation, she confirmed her plans earlier than necessary so council could consolidate its recruitment approach.

"This was particularly helpful, and we appreciate her willingness to help out in this manner," he said.

Mrs Davidson started with the former Tapanui Borough Council in 1986, while Mrs Diamond worked part-time for the council until her permanent appointment as library officer just over a year ago.

Mrs Diamond's departure as cleaner too means all three positions at the service centre are vacant.
