A house was gutted by fire in the Catlins last night.
A fire communications spokesman said firefighters were called to a house on fire in Slope Point Rd, near Tokanui, just after 7pm.
When crews from Waimahaka, Tokonui and Wyndham arrived the blaze was "well involved".
A fire investigator had been called to examine the house, he said.
