A young boy has been flown to hospital with serious injuries after a fall in Te Anau this evening.
The boy, under the age of 5, was flown to Dunedin Hospital's emergency department after the fall about 5.15pm this evening, a St John spokesman said.
He was unable to say how the child fell or what from, but the toddler suffered serious injuries as a result.
An ambulance and the rescue helicopter from Southern Lakes Helicopters were sent to a private residence in Kakapo Rd, Mt Prospect, in Te Anau, as a result.
Southern Lakes Helicopters spokeswoman said one of its rescue helicopters was used in an emergency medical evacuation.
The helicopter left Te Anau at 6.10pm to respond to the incident and arrived at Dunedin Hospital about 7.20pm.
The nature of the boy's injuries are unclear.
