A 14-year-old boy has been remanded in custody after allegedly stabbing another pupil in the neck at a Southland secondary school.
A police spokesperson said the person was stabbed with a pair of scissors shortly before 2pm yesterday.
A 14-year-old appeared in Invercargill Youth Court this morning charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The injuries were not life-threatening and a Southern District Health Board spokesperson said they were discharged from Southland Hospital today.
Police said inquiries were ongoing and no further information was available at this time.
The school earlier told the Otago Daily Times it was launching an internal inquiry and co-operating with police.
However, it would not comment further today.
The name of the school is suppressed as part of Youth Court proceedings.
